All horses in residence are turned out or worked on a daily basis.

Reproduction Lab at Bishop LaneMany people ask us why they should freeze semen from their stallions. Our unequivocal answer is that freezing semen is an excellent insurance policy for your valuable sire.  In the event of loss, many breed registries will allow to use frozen semen which can extend a stallions genetic influence well beyond his life span.  Frozen semen is also an an excellent option for busy show stallions, as it allows you to meet breeding obligations to satisfied mare owners during competitions without imposing undue stress on your stallions.Reproduction Lab at Bishop Lane

Our affiliate specialty is cooled semen, for which we are supplied with twenty equitainers and all the equipment needed to ship semen to mare owners.  For the reasonable rates of $350.00 (haul in) or $300.00 (on farm), we take care of everything.  Mare owners receive two semen doses, semen evaluation forms,  and return fed ex paid. No vet fees are charged to the stallion owner.  We test every stallion and routinely store semen on the farm for every shipment to ensure quality semen has been sent.  For hard to ship stallions, we also offer the opportunity of centrifugation, a service no vet can offer at your farm, and very few can offer in house.  Centrifugation on hard to ship stallions removes the supernatant which makes shipping more of a success.  An additional $25.00 per shipment will be charged for stallions that require centrifugation.

Concensus in the Main Stable at Bishop LaneBishop Lane Farm also offers a variety of quality services for mare owners and breeders. Situated on 60 acres of lush, green, fertile pasture in scenic Sonoma County, the facility is ideally designed to provide maximum quality care for broodmares and foals. The central feature is a 22 stall mare motel, adjacent a large foaling barn equipped with four 12' X 22' foaling stalls. Each foaling stall is monitored 24 hours a day with video surveillance, as well as with breeder alert systems. In the event of emergency during parturition, veterinary services are just moments away as the clinic is within two miles of the farm.  We do ask that all mares scheduled to foal out at the farm arrive within one month prior to due date as to best allow for proper acclimation and accommodate nutrition requirements. Mares that are not being rebred on site may remain up to four months post parturition with foals at side. Mares being serviced on site may remain longer until they are safely checked in foal. Bishop Lane will wean and halter break all foals at the mare owner's request. Each foal will learn to lead, tie, clip, walk of the walker, lunge and have it’s feet trimmed in a kind and gentle manner.

As an equine reproduction facility, we are completely set up to accommodate anything and everything in terms of breeding mares.  The veterinarian is regularly scheduled every second day, allowing for the efficient handling of transported semen and ensuring the optimal health and date of insemination for each mare. Shilo Bishop, breeding manager at Bishop Lane, Caitlin Crawford and MiniMonois certified in artificial insemination. Responsible for most inseminations, she works with the veterinarian to ensure all mares are covered at the optimal time of the estrus, regardless of shipment arrival time or day of the week. Our staff will make the necessary contacts, process paperwork and handle all the details for each stallion to which client mares are booked. Mares are teased daily. We specialize in the "hard-to-get-pregnant" mare and can boast a 95% conception rate on the farm with both frozen and cooled semen, along with live cover.
